Delete your account
Qidra · web-qidra.com · updated 14 August 2026
You can delete your account yourself, from the app — no emails, no waiting, no need to explain why. Below is what exactly gets deleted, and what cannot be deleted and why.
From the app — takes a minute
Open Profile and scroll to the very bottom — under the “Log out” button there is “Delete account”. The app sends a code to your email and asks you to enter it. That is protection against someone else deleting your account after getting hold of an unlocked phone.
Once confirmed, the account is deleted immediately. This cannot be undone: there is no “trash” we could pull it back from.
If you already removed the app from your phone
Deleting the app does not delete the account — that has to be done separately. Open web-qidra.com in any browser, sign in with the code sent to your email and follow the same path: Profile → scroll to the bottom → “Delete account”. You do not need to install the app again — Qidra runs fully in a browser.
If you cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the address the account is registered to, with “Account deletion” in the subject. The email must come from your own address: otherwise we cannot be sure the request comes from the account owner rather than from a stranger.
We reply within 30 days; usually the same day.
What gets deleted
Your first and last name, @username, photo, profile background, phone number, wallet address, encryption key, linked devices, all sessions, your contacts and the backup of your conversation key if you created one. Your email address is released — you can register a new account with it later.
A closed account cannot be signed into by any means: not with a code, not with the twelve words, not with a PIN.
What cannot be deleted — and why
Messages you sent to other people. They stay in the conversations of those you wrote to, signed as “Deleted user”. That conversation is theirs: removing your words from it would turn it into a monologue for people who deleted nothing and gave no consent. A letter already delivered cannot be taken back out of someone else’s mailbox either.
If you want a particular message gone for everyone, do it BEFORE deleting your account: the message menu has “Delete for everyone”.
Records we cannot read. Your conversations are encrypted on your device, and we are not able to “wipe individual words” out of something we have no access to. We can remove a record as a whole — we cannot take it apart.
Database backups live for up to 30 days and are overwritten in rotation — they are protection against data loss during a failure, not a storage vault. Nothing is retrieved from them on anyone’s request, and after 30 days no trace of a deleted account remains in them.
The wallet is separate
The funds in your wallet are not ours: the key to it lives only on your phone and never reaches our server. Deleting your account does not move or destroy your funds — they stay on the network, and your twelve-word phrase gives you access to them. Before deleting, make sure you have written that phrase down: neither we nor anyone else can recover it.
Questions — through the help section in the app (that way your message reaches us inside Qidra, without an email and without exposing your contacts) or by writing to [email protected]. What we collect and why is on the privacy policy page.
